Week 48: I love being a missionary!
Hey yall :)
This past week was similar to every other week... MIRACULOUS, SPIRIT AND JOY FILLED :)
I have officially finished 11 months on my mission now. It's going by fast and I don;t know exactly how to feel about that other than I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!! :) I love the people and the language here :) A dear friend of mine told me recently " It’s such a great feeling being able to speak their language. Someone once told me that the lord sends you to the place and language where you are able to best bear your testimony. And I can testify to that 100% I love being able to testify in Spanish because it does feel much more spiritual for me." and Im going to testify to what she testified about because that is the truth. I love speaking in Hiligaynon and speaking to these people I feel I knew long before that are for sure an additional part of my family.
This week I didnt fall in any bamboo bridges or eat shark or anything, but I did get to eat the mangoes that people here eat when they are green still with soy sauce or vinegar and it is SO GOOD. I love it.
Also this week, we taught our cute 11 year old investigator, Ian. He is getting ready for baptism after a year of coming to church. We have also had the opportunity to teach his family. One of our most interested investigators is his "manang" or older sister and her name is Iara and she is 16 and is SO WELL INFORMED about the bible as she truly has an amazing ability to understand it and feel the Spirit. We asked her to pray to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet and she informed us that she felt such a strong emotion that she cried as she prayed personally and knew it was all true. She had many questions and expressed her beliefs which all align with Christ's doctrine in this HIS church and we gave her a Book of Mormon to read. I am oh so VERY excited to see her progress.
Also I was able to speak in church which was a good experience to talk about service and as I expressed my love for the people I am so blessed to teach and serve, I cried a bit so very unexpectedly. Afterwards, I was so happy and blessed to have the members come up to me and tell me they love me and that I am truly an "Ilongga" :) (GOALS. Finally I am losing my american accent whooooo).
My mind is always focused on these amazing people and trying to help them progress and know for themselves from God that this is the truth. I love this work and it is going oh so very fast.
Thats all for this week. Take care. I love you all :)
Love, Sister Masters
