Week 29: $3/day - 112 Cockroaches

Dec 4, 2017

Hey yall :)
So this week is the start of December! :) The Church is doing an amazing challenege of Lighting the World in 25 ways over 25 Days :) There's a video each day and a scripture each day to read on Mormon.org So amazing and spiritual) and we are supposed to do small things to light the world daily in relation to the scripture :)
We are doing our best here in the Philippines to do the challenge too, it is just a little harder for people to watch the video as most people do not have smart phones and if they happen to have a smart phone there is no wifi near... but we are still presenting the card and it is a good feeling to remind people and ourselves for the reason of Christmas: Jesus Christ.

This past week, 3 different families that had been not attending the church for various reasons the past few years attended Church this week! It was amazing to see how happy they were to be back :) We had been visiting them the past

few weeks and it is amazing to see their conversion to the gospel again. It makes me realize how important it is to read the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon daily in order to remember why we know Joseph Smith is a prophet, that Christ's church has been restored and that the Book of Mormon is true.

One of the Families that has been slowly returning over the last couple weeks do not have the best living circumstances. they have a tiny home and holes in the broken bamboo floor, and they have many children. One of them works daily and the MOST he makes in a day is around $3. All of them are amazingly happy and so loving. We were talking about fasting and then came up the topic of fast offering (The money you wouldve used to buy food for yourself and give it to the church which is then used for other people who have no money for food) and tithing (10% of your income you give to the church and it goes to building temples and giving out free Book of Mormons. Sidenote: it does not go to the teachers, leaders as payment all service in the church is voluntary). We read # Nephi 24:10 abut how the lord will pour His blessings upon you if you pay tithing that you wil have no room to receive it. The spirit was so strong and she committed to paying tithing which was amazing and I know the Lord will bless her and her family.

Also we taught another investigator who is a younger (his grandparents are members) and we asked him if her has ever killed anyone (kind of jokingly as it is one of the commandments not to) and he said "Tangga kag ilaga" and we laughed as that means "cockroaches and rats" haha. I love the Philippines.

This week we are only at a count of 112 dead cockroaches.

Take care everyone! I am doing well and healthy! :)

Sister "Master" (I am called Sister Master here. Its pretty great).
