Hello all!!  So news for this week:   Im switching to a farther part of the mission which has not happened to an american sister in a while!!! And there is lots of seafood there and it is rural there they say!!! Im very excited. Its a 4 hours bus trip from here! So road trip!!!! The place is called Roxas and Im so so so very excited to experience a 2nd area as I am now about half way done with my mission haha :)  I am super excited as I have spent a good 7 months in my first area and have even trained there too. This wil be an exciting change and I will be sure to update you all next week.  This week we were able to teach a man that I talked to on the street. He always fixes shoes on the side of the road and feeds his goat and I asked to pet his goat haha. It turns out his name is Ernesto and his goat's name is Ernesto Jr. Brother Ernesto only had an education until grade 2 and spoke some Cebuano so that was kind of a cool experience to try to understand...

Week 36: Jezel Is Amazing ... and an AMERICAN!!! (127 cockroaches)

Dear family and friends,  This past week Jezel came to church again. The stake was also showing in each ward the First Presidency's message so we could hear the Prophet speak. When President Russel M. Nelson said  “I declare my devotion to God our Eternal Father and to His Son, Jesus Christ. I know Them, love Them, and pledge to serve Them—and you—with every remaining breath of my life", I had an overwhelming feeling come over me (the Spirit) that President Nelson is truly God's living prophet on this earth of God's only true and living church on this earth. Joy. I truly felt joy and peace knowing that despite all the commotion going on in the world, God does't change and He has blessed us just as He blessed His children in the past by calling a prophet of God so we can have revelation from our Father in Heaven in our day. I turned to Jezel after hearing the New First Presidency speak and asked how she felt. She said she felt emotional but so very happy and fille...

Week 35: Atonement (126 cockroaches)

Hello everyone :)  The highlight of this week was Sister Jezel coming to church!  Yesterday was the best Sunday of my whole mission. We walked over to her one room home and waited for her and to see her come out all dressed up with her 1 year and 5 month old son was the happiest thing :) She was so excited. We rode the jeepney over and then walked the short way  to church.  Then at church we went to Sacrament meeting and then seeing her answering questions and sharing her experiences with the other investigators and the recent convert Teacher of the class was SO HAPPY. She expressed her love for the Book of Mormon and that even though her boyfriend asks her what shes reading about mMormons, she just tells him, "basahon mo siya agud nga maintyendehan mo man" Read it and youll understand too! haha She is so happy. She used to be a Jehovah's witness missionary and tried Catholicism as well as another church here and to see her joy as she learns more about the prop...

Week 34: Golden Investigator

Dear family and friends,  Do you all remember the investigator who is the  one we met as she was standing on the side of the road and she understood everything so well and said this is all true? Well we have come back to her a couple times now and her name is Jezel. Here in the mission we call investigators like her "golden". which means they are the best kind of investigators because they put their faith into action and have real intent to know the truth. Jezel has read all the way up to 1 Nephi 20 (which is VERY FAR so that is happy) and she reads every night and while she holds her baby she even reads the pamphlets haha. She is so amazing. Her poor baby was sick so she could not go to church but hopefully this Sunday. Also she understands all the lessons. What is the most amazing to me is to see her talk about her love for the Book of Mormon and that she feels she relates to it. I am so blessed to see first hand, the miracles that occur in this, the Lord's work. I ...
