Week 28: Sharing the Gospel with a Guitar - 111 Cockroaches!
This week was filled with finding new people to teach. As missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we have such an amazing opportunity to speak to people about their lives and help them find joy by helping them receive the Restored Gospel. The joy is truly fulfilled as you see them decide to act on our invitations to them to go to Christ's Restored church and read the Book of Mormon. Lives are changes and questions are answered.
This week we were walking past a new investigator's (We call the people learning about the church investigators and they are welcome guests) home and we saw a man who was 27, he looked as if life has not been the easiest on him and just asked his name and introduced our selves and he actually had us come in and he and we were able to talk to him. He described himself as a failure and had no success in life after failing many college classes and separated from his child and various other things. What is so amazing is he has gone to church in the past once and knows many members and played basketball with them and even had the child picture book of Book of Mormon stories and it was amazing to share the Book of Mormon with him and share how that book has changed my life.
Then another new investigator of ours is 19 and she is sagad gid (talented) at guitar and singing so she and I sang some christian hymns together and had a good time singing and she accepted the Book of Mormon and is very excited to read it :)
Just miracles all around and I love this gospel.
Funny Side story:
We had exchanges (which is where you switch companions for a day to learn from a more experienced missionary) and Sister Peck, the only other Kana (American female) and I got to be together. This area that I am assigned is where she and I were trained and so we got to visit a few of the recently baptized people who she was one of the first missionaries who taught them (she was here a year ago and she is now in another area). It has become normal for people to always say hi and stare at me as a white female and as I have been here it has become normal and I dont usually notice it anymore, but with Sister Peck and I walking around we got WAY more attention which was funny. We found former investigators and teaching them :)
This week the amount of dead cockroaches is now 111 :) (Each are about 2 inches long)
Also we have a Mission Christmas conference coming up for missionaries and Im learning a tongan dance from a Tongan sister: PRETTY COOL. Also Philippines is so cool: they have dances too. Also I am learning more Tagalog now. Medyo hard, but it is ok lang :)
