Week 25: Still Cooking French Toast and 101 Cockroaches
Dear all yall,
So this week was a little slow as me and my beloved companion, Sister Bruno, and I were sick. Also we have been finding new people to teach ourselves which has been hard as that means you go around and talk to random people and ask to share with them about your message. Which if you look at missionary work from a normal person's view point you would say "wow, that's miserable". But I read talk by an apostle, President Nelso the other day called Joy and Spiritual Survival and you know what, I realized I am seriously doing the coolest thing right now every day as I am teaching (those who receive us) the gospel of Jesus Christ which is literally JOY. So much joy comes from the restored gospel
I love being a missionary. The people who listen and truly have a desire to know the truth of what we teach the the Holy Spirit are experiencing joy beyond measure and I am in love with being a part of it
My favorite experience this week was going to a house where they have broken bamboo floors, leaky roof, the mom washes clothes (of course by hand in the Philippines, that's how it is) and the father drives a Jeepney (They are kind of like a bus thing, but way cooler) and they have 8 children and 1 child has a child.... their situation is really hard and they are so incredibly happy still. Our bishop came to teach them with us and shared his story of how God helped him get through school and become a police even though he worked at a slaughter house at night and went straight to school early in the morning. Also Bishop and his wife fed us and this ward which used to be little involved with missionary work is now feeding us missionaries and working with us and bearing their testimony of how the restored gospel has helped them in their lives as well.
Missionary life is good as I can now cook Pochero, Sinigang, Adobo and I continue to cook french toast here in the Philippines.
Also I am on a total of 101 cockroaches killed by me Very proud of that
Any who, take care
