Week 10: Settling In
Hey family and friends
Im settling well into the mission life in the Philippines. My goal of being exhausted every day is being reached daily. I also am covered in mud, sweat and deet (insect repellent) at the end of each day. Ive realized that I am happiest when my mind is busy teaching the gospel to others. BUSY=HAPPY
I am learning more and more the importance of daily scripture study and prayer. Sometimes I struggle to focus on only the work and forget myself and desires to be home, but prayer and scriptures study remind me that this is such a greater, more marvelous work than I am. I love answering people's questions and the Spirit is so strong as I testify the truth that, Joseph Smith did see God the Father and Jesus Christ and He did receive the priesthood from the apostles and through Joseph Smith, Christ did restore the fullness of the gospel which we can find in the Book of Mormon which testifies that Jesus is the Christ and Redeemer of our souls. Sharing the joy I have and the knowledge that this is not it, that after death, we will rise again and through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, we can live with our families FOREVER ))) YAyyayyayayy Its all possible. It fills me with so much joy I struggle to hold back tears and sometimes fail as I testify this great Plan of Salvation to the investigators, less active members and recent converts.
I forgot my cord and camera again so I dont have pictures to send but I PROMISE next week Ill have pictures of me and the little kids that I get to have the pleasure of meeting on the streets in our area. I started twirling one girl with my hand like what Dad has done for me when he dances with me and it started a chain haha now these kids love it and I used the opportunity to tell them what the Book of Mormon was about haha.
Probably the highlight of my week... wait theres too many..:
1) we found a woman and she started crying during the prayer we did for her in the street. She had only done memorized prayers and found great comfort and the Spirit. Well get to visit her again
2) We talked to a lady and her 2 children on the side of the rode on the way home and gave her the Book of Mormon and asked if we could visit her (I ask now and they actually understand haha) and she said yes. she didnt seem that interested, but we found her and visited her and she lives in her fathers home with her siblings and her kids and a partner. She had READ THE BOOK OF MORMON wowwwww!! She said she had a good feeling when she read it and I taught them the lesson It was incredible and the Dad actually took lessons from elders a long time ago and went to church once!! So thats pretty neat
3) I got to bad charcoal haha So fun our hands got black. One of our investigators (family who took lessons before and has 8 kids!!!) was bagging charcoal and so we took over haha
Anywho, thats really all. I clean my clothes by hand, learn how to cook rice in 1000 different ways, and spray tons of permethrin and bug spray and we have a cockroach kill chart now haha... All along with teaching souls where they came from, what our purpose here in life is, and when theyre going its all joyous and hopeful
