Week 10: Settling In

Image
Hey family and friends  :) Im settling well into the mission life in the Philippines. My goal of being exhausted every day is being reached daily. I also am covered in mud, sweat and deet (insect repellent) at the end of each day. Ive realized that I am happiest when my mind is busy teaching the gospel to others. BUSY=HAPPY  :) I am learning more and more the importance of daily scripture study and prayer. Sometimes I struggle to focus on only the work and forget myself and desires to be home, but prayer and scriptures study remind me that this is such a greater, more marvelous work than I am. I love answering people's questions and the Spirit is so strong as I testify the truth that, Joseph Smith did see God the Father and Jesus Christ and He did receive the priesthood from the apostles and through Joseph Smith, Christ did restore the fullness of the gospel which we can find in the Book of Mormon which testifies that Jesus is the Christ and Redeemer of our souls. Week 9: Philippines Is Great!

Image
Hey yall! The Philippines is great. Life is not hard like I thought it would be. I actually dont struggle with the trash, bathing out of a bucket, no oven, killing cockraches, and washing my clothes by hand. I thought it would be hard, but I guess all the camping Ive done has prepared me haha. The thing that is hard for me is lack of similar spices or ingredients in their markets. I DONT KNOW HOW TO COOK HERE haha. Apparently I am a super american cooker cause Im useless here and my companion cooks for me. I will get better Im sure. The other hard thing for me is not understanding all that the natives say to me. I have been learning a lot of Ilonggo. Its sometimes overwhelming cause I can speak basically what I want to say all the time (regarding religious stuff) but I cant understand conversational stuff outside of church yet. I was talking to the Zone Leaders (The elders in my ward) and they are both Kano (american) they said that I am super sagad (skilled good), but understandi...

Week 8: Philippines Is Awesome!

THE PHILIPPINES IS SO AWESOME. I was at the Manila MTC for a bit for visa stuff and got to try balut there! An elder has the pictures, so Ill get them to yall later. My area is Molo in Iloilo Iloilo Zone. It is so fun here. The baybay/beach is so fun to walk on cause you just say hi to everyone and tell them about the church. like: "Do you believe families can be together forever in the next life?" Of course it is all in Ilonggo.  Here, it is crazy with roosters, ido (dogs) everywhere and I love it!!! My companion is filippino, Sister Yang-ed. She and I get along pretty well and she is so sweet. We are in an apartment together which is think is rather large! It has 2 upstairs rooms and a little kitchen and a cool living area and 2 tiny bathrooms. I guess I just had lower expectations so they can only be raised. Sister Yang-ed is always surprised by me haha. (Im her first american or kana in ilonggo companion). She thought I would be freaked out by the slums and all ...
