Week 33: Happy New Year!! and Miracles (121 Cockroaches)

Hey yall :) Malipayong bago nga tuig!!! Happy New Year!! This past week was filled with miracles!  We have ben talking to as many people as we can. We recently gained 13 new investigators (people who we teach) which is kind of normal here in the Philippines. But what is a miracle is that we extended 3 baptismal dates and 2 accepted and the other is thinking about it )we asked her to pray).  one of them we met as she was standing on the side of the road and we came back and she understood everything so well and said this is all true. And we testified that yes, it is all true and that she could read the evidence that it is all true (the Book of Mormon) and pray to God to know if it was true in her heart. She is 21 and she is the sweetest soul, we are already friends. Another investigator felt the Spirit testify to her so strong as my companion testified that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and later Joseph Smith was called a prophet and ...

Dear family and friends,  Malipayon nga paskua! Merry Christmas!  This week was amazing. My trainee arrived! She is from Isabella and so she is an Ilokana, She usually speaks Ilokano but like all other Filipinos here she speaks Tagalog fluently and so thats what she usually speaks to me and I am now learning Tagalog! She and I laugh because an American is teaching her Hiligaynon and people get so surprised. Even thought the language is a bit of a barrier (We use Tagalog, English and Hiligaynon), she and I are already very good friends. I love her so much and she is constantly telling people how much she is learning from me, but I can tell you I am learning even more from her. She is so hard working and truly loves this work.  Probably one of my favorite things this week was walking home from Church and saying Merry Christmas to everyone I saw and seeing them go from a scowl to a smile and responding back :)  What is so amazing about Christmas is that all ...

Week 30: I'm a trainer!!

Dear Family and Friends,  BIG NEWS: I am training a new missionary!  I got the news yesterday that I will be training one of the new missionaries that enter the Philippines Iloilo mission next week. Im a little scared as it is a massive responsibility but my friend says a quote fairly often and I am taking it to heart with this new assignment: "Two people can do anything, as long as one of them is the Lord". Also my companion has told me that "Who the Lord calls, He qualifies" as right now I do not feel too qualified for this, but I trust the Lord will guide me as I exercise my faith in Him and become more humble as I train all I know to this new missionary. We are fairly low in investigators right now (at least low for Philippines missions) but I have faith that as i open my mouth and speak to more people, the Lord will bless us with miracles.  I have been in this area for over 5 months now this being my upcoming 5th transfer her...

Dec 4, 2017 Hey yall :)  So this week is the start of December! :) The Church is doing an amazing challenege of Lighting the World in 25 ways over 25 Days :) There's a video each day and a scripture each day to read on Mormon.org So amazing and spiritual) and we are supposed to do small things to light the world daily in relation to the scripture :)  We are doing our best here in the Philippines to do the challenge too, it is just a little harder for people to watch the video as most people do not have smart phones and if they happen to have a smart phone there is no wifi near... but we are still presenting the card and it is a good feeling to remind people and ourselves for the reason of Christmas: Jesus Christ.  This past week, 3 different families that had been not attending the church for various reasons the past few years attended Church this week! It was amazing to see how happy they were to be back :) We had been visiting them the past few weeks ...
