Hello everyone! This week went by so quickly. "The days are long, but the weeks are fast" when new missionaries enter the Missionary Training Center (MTC) they ask if things speed up and this is what we "older" brand spanking new missionaries say to them. I have been in the MTC learning how to better and more clearly teach the restored gospel and share with people in the Iloilo Philippines area the message that Christ is our Savior and the Book of Mormon testifies of it in the Ilonggo (Hiligaynon) language. I am so excited to get to the Philippines. I fly from Salt Lake City this Wednesday the 28th and I arrive in Manila Philippines on Friday after a few long layovers in LA and Hong Kong. In Manila I will be at the Missionary Training Center for 5 days until; I will be flown over to the island that my mission is on. So a few highlights from this past week: 1) We had "In-field Orientation" yesterday where we learn how to do a lot o...

Week 5: Love from Aunt Tori

Hey everyone! I only have 13 more days here at the MTC then I leave on a plane to the Philippines! :) This past week I learned more Ilonggo grammer andmore people are coming into the Missionary Training Center from BYU each week. It is fun to see so many people who I met at BYU and get to walk around and say "hi" to so many people again :) Now for the Highlights of my week: My incredible Aunt Tori sent me a "love package" as she called it with so much LOVE, I was spoiled. There is a picture of all the great goodies me and my companions have been sharing :) I am so grateful for the snacks and awesome things she sent me along with her testimony of this restored gospel and the SWEETEST card :). I did not deserve such a wonderful package, but I am so grateful for it. I was at the Provo temple grounds on Sunday for a short walk and one of my most dear friends, Paige, ran and yelled my first name haha :) I was filled with so much JOY to see her and we b...

Week 4: Love for Sundays

Hello everyone!! Each week gets packed with more and more. The weeks sometimes go by fast but it also feels like it has been months here at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo Utah. I have about 2 1/2 more weeks until I leave to the Philippines to put what I've learned here to use.  I learn more Ilonggo all the time! In class, our teachers make us laugh when they tell us their stories of their missions in the Philippines (each teacher returned from their mission about 1-3 years ago and are about 20-23 years old). The other day, we learned more Ilonggo expressions. Apparently Filipinos are not very sarcastic and the most sarcastic expression is "edi wow" which basically translates to "cool story bro" (with the hands on the side of the head holding up both hands with 3 fingers up to make 'W's and the head is the 'O'--- look at the picture of me to see that it makes "WOW" ahahaha). I laughed so hard at how silly that was...

Week 3: MTC and the Fake Rocks

Dear Friends and family,  It has officially been 2 weeks since I left home and arrived at the MTC (missionary Training Center) with the anticipation for my call to Iloilo Philippines. It feels like a couple months have already passed so much happens each day.  I finish each day emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted. Our classes where we learn how to speak Ilonggo and teach better are still my favorite part of each day. I am startting to see the effects of not listening to music so my poor companions now hear me sing all the time. I even bought a little hymn book just so I can sing all the verses of each song haha. They say that they like my singing, but who knows if that is actually true.  My companions and I study on some couches that are in the main hall of the building all the missionaries each in and can practice piano and various things. The president and his wife, President Martino (I think my friend Reagan will look like him when he is old) ...
